I've been looking for new fork tubes for my '78 LTD and all I can find are Z1 tubes which are 3/8" longer than mine or H1/H2 tubes and those are like 1" shorter. If I go with one or the other which it appears I'll have to, will the late model fork caps I have fit and can I reuse my springs and damper out of mine?

Have you tried ebbaayy? I don't know anything about your bike, but a simple KZ1000 fork search yielded some items.

Yeah I tried fleabay. My problem with mine is they have some pitting in between the trees, I could rotate them to hide it but, I would know it was there and that alone would drive me nuts. I want to buy new just to be sure I don't get something that is in the same or worse condition than what I already have.

yeah lemo I looked, and for that price they can turn them sideways and shove them up their turd cutter. I may just try the A model forks and if my caps don't fit I'll just buy old style fork caps. I put the tapered steering bearings in and they raised the top triple clamp about 4mm so that would eat up some of the 3/8" extra length of the tubes.

Try these folks. They have the lowest prices I've found for OEM parts.

yep B) the 900 springs will make it ride stiffer since they will be preloaded in the shorter forks B)
