I would assume it did as mine has the mounts for it on the frame, but you know what they say, "Assumption is the mother of all f!@# ups."Mr.Patton thanks for the site, however I was inquiring if the 1978 KZ1000 LTD came with a center kickstand not the 1980 KZ750 LTD.
The first LTD model, 1976 KZ900-B1, had no center-stand because of the Jardine exhaust interference. But the frame retained the same mounts.
I don't know how many years the mounts were continued on LTD models without center-stands (possibly on through 1980).
According to kawasaki.com, KZ1000LTD models had no center-stand until 1981.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

The mounts make a pretty good start for the dog-bones when converting to a mono-shock setup!
Good luck! David

Hi Patton
Have a '75 Z1-B 900.
Sorry to bother ya, but this thread has my interest, I am a short kinda "Fire-Plug" guy, already have a thin seat and would like to lower my bike more if I can do so reasonably cheap and if it would not effect handling too adversely, I am a cruiser, don't try and ride too fast and or crazy .I am over 60 Y.O. so wanna be carefull.
Maybe I could get a complete set of front forks that would lower mine? Thoughts on lowering the rear? Goal would be 2" +or- overall. Even thought about putting a Harley 16" rear wheel on it but would still leave the rear shocks needing to be shorter I think.
Thanks!!
ED
Try installing a set of 11" shocks. You can adjust the fork height, how much the fork tubes protrude from the top of the top clamp.

shorter shocks w/... or ...wo/ 16" rear wheel? How / where would I find /source the shorter shocks? reasonably priced of course.
Yeah, I see where i could bring the forks up thru the triple trees! Think maybe a set of a different model front forks would fit and be 2" shorter? If I change the rear wheel to a 16" should I change the front wheel? Maybe a 17" on front? Sorry for all the questions....I always try to anticipate the changes and the impact
Thanks Kid Kawie!!

I don't think you have to be that drastic with swapping out the wheels too. How tall are you? Along with shaving your seat you could take some of the "girth" out of the width of the seat, the seats are kind of wide.
If you already have tires I would start with the 11 or 11.5" shocks, drop the trees and see how you like it. If you still need more, try shaving the sides of the seat a little. Then maybe look into a lower profile tire.

Suzuki GS1000-1100 rear swingarm will lower bike about 2 inches and lengthen it same amount.Suzuki GS shocks are required due to the clevis style fitting on the swingarm.KZ1000 Police forks are a bit shorter and are also 38mm so are pretty easy to fit.bjHi Patton
