Is the 650 stem the same as the kz900?when looking for forks do I need to pay atention to the length of dif. years & models or are they all about the same?

Feel better soon! thx for the update. as for the 6 inch rim, you should only need a 3/8 offset front sprocket to get it to line up, and no machining
not sure if the 650 stem and the 900 are the same, but I really dont think it matters, you are just using your original stem in the new triples

77kz650- I just dont see mathematically how that is. If you have done this i have questions.

1. is the rear rim 6"?
2. Does the chain clear the frame and by how much?

I guess i dont see how and here is a quick diagram of what i am talking about

yes my zx7 wheel is 6 inch with a 190 tire. I did some research on here awhile back have a look here Intimida2or has a 5.5 zx7 rim with a 190 tire and is using 3/8 offset. when I bid on my zx7 wheel, i assumed that it was going to be 5.5 aswell, but it might be newer than his as its a 6. To make sure it was going to fit, I put the lower case (motor still apart) back into the frame to do a mock up, and a 3/8 will work with my setup aswell. yes the wheel is centered in the zx636 swingarm. there is actually enough room to move the wheel over and not need an offset front sprocket, but the wheel wouldnt be centered that way
I can try to get some pics next time Im over to my dads shop to work on the bike if you want them.

If I'm not mistaken I used a 5/8 off set sprocket on my kz900 with a 5.5 inch rear rim and it worked out perfect. I did have to flatten to small sections of my frame where the chain was rubbing. I also made a couple of shims for the rear wheel and I was done.

I have a feeling that the 900/1000 frames are larger and you have more clearences than the 650 frames. I could be wrong though;)

Do the 650's use a 530 or 630 chain? If it is 630 like the kz900 you could use a 530 and gain some clearance.
