Looks nice and stout, Leon. Cool little trick with the mill, too.

If I may ask Leon, how do you come up with the geometry? I know that most of it is a matter of opportunity, but the distance from the swingarm pivot to the added hoop for example. Is that a specific measurement for a reason, experience or just what looks the best?

i like the tube diameter u choose. the arm will look very dimensional pleasing to the eye. Form and function.
Very nice Leon.B)

porchev,
the chain run dictates the main part of it the other part is getting from point A to point B that is already dictated by the existing shape, and the other part is how can i keep this from looking like a added on hunk of $hit  .it is a toss up because you want it to look nice but the main thing is it has to function and not crash into anything.experience is what has taught me how far from the pivot to the lower bar the chain will need in order to live a happy rub free life.:silly:
i also did some scaling off of rstnicks swingarm from some pics.
i have a much free-er brush,(design wise)when custom building a swingarm such as the one i built myself.

dutchz,
thanks for the kind words.how noticeable was your braced stock swingarm over the previous un-braced version?

mark1122,
the metric tube of the stock arms is around 38mm.thats an 1 1/2" to okies like me  .so the 1" .065 wall cro-mo nicely compliments the stock tube without being to over powering.3/4 just looks to damn spindly in my opinion :P .the 1" .065 seems to be my goto tubing for many projects.i have built a-arms for quads, swingarms for everything from 90cc's to 1000cc's out of it.with proper design it is very strong and lightweight.

i got the new one piece under tube bent last night, yay! :cheer: no pics tho,:(
i had to chuck a (yamaha)blaster head up in the lathe and spin out the nicks it got from the last piston explosion.then throw another blaster cylinder in the boring bar and see what it was going to take to clean up the bore from the last piston meltdown.then bent the tube for t_dubs brace and figured i should reward myself by going for a ride down to my buddies to see what he had accomplished with his day.
i will get some pics tonight now that i have all the two stroke piston killers outta my hair for a minute.

glad you like it tyler!
what pipe are you planning to run?
when you are doing a one off it is not feasible to spend the time and material to build a jig.so you brake out the clamps and v-blocks and square and clamp to the table and get to work.

another shot of the setup/riggin whatever  .

That's hard to tell, because I simultaneously braced the hell out of the frame, raised the rear of the bike, lost 100lbs (the bike that is) and improved the suspension. All I can say is it works as a package - night and day. It's no secret the stock arms have flex in em and it will be a damn sight stiffer when you're done. Nice work.
