Cross bracing was created by Yojymbo!
I have my bike down to the bare metal and have a buddy who welds fairly well. Would it be worth while to have a few cross braces thrown up behind the headers and above the inner fender?

There was a post on here a couple weeks ago that was in Japanese that had pics of what they are doing. Mostly around the neck and where the frame comes together on the sides.

Tomorrow I'm taking it to a Navy welder that does drag bikes and the like in his spare time. He's doing the job for very cheap. I'm going with something similar to the above. I plan to cut out the triangular sheet metal area that is bellow the gastank and reinforcing the top and front. I wanted to replace it with a bar like the one above. Also a cross brace below the headers, by the airbox and the triangles with holes in them cause they look cool. I figure I might as well do it while the frame is stripped and the labor is cheap. That way this winter I can 810 a 750 or newer 650 engine out of a non running bike and just swap them, make some money while I'm at it maybe. Is it stupid to cut off the passenger peg mounts, center stand mounts and helmet lock?

Things would be so much cleaner and what pussy can't lift their bike onto a makeshift stand for maintenance?

These are the points I'm speaking of, the blue parts. The Japanese were horrrible welders and it would look much better with tube bracing rather than crap welded sheet metal. Probably get better air flow to the engine as well. All in all it seems like a pretty easy job for a competant welder. Any thoughts? Other that making sure the tank cushions has a propper place to sit it should be OK correct.?.

tubing would look cool but flat plates work very well also and it gives you an extra place to mount things as well in fact that is where i mount my coils on two of my drag bikes.
