Anyone help me pick the right tire size? I'm thinking 120/90-18 for the rear and 110/90-19 for the front? Both mags are 2.15 wide I think?

I'm running Lesters on one of my KZ1000A1's and I'll see what I have mounted (don't recall off-hand) and post if no one answers your query.

Original Z1 oem sizes per Owners Manual are 4.00-18 and 3.25-19. The Lesters accomodate those sizes very well.

On my Z1 Lesters, am running Bridgestone Spitfires "stock replacement" sizes 110/90-18 and 100/90-19. Previously had 130/90-18 on rear which looked too "bulged out" for the rim (like wearing pants with a too small waist size). Next time I'll try a 120/90-18 which is one size larger than stock, but stays closer to the "correct" stock bike look.

Thinking your 120/90-18 is a good choice for the rear tire, but might consider 100/90-19 for the front tire, unless wanting a slightly fatter look on the front end.

Regardless, the Lesters will handle either sizes, same as the oem stock spoke wheels that originally came on the bike.

Good Luck! :)

Thats just what I wanted to know. Thanks! I ordered your set-up 100 front and 110 rear using Kenda Challenger's. Will 3.25/3.50-18 & 3.50/4.00-18 tubes work?

Russ, do you have a 3" wide rear rim or the 2.15?

Don't run a 110/90-18 on the back. Either do a 120/90-18 if you like a bigger tire or the stock 4.00-18. 110/90 is just gay looking  Sorry, I don't particularly like fat tires, but smaller than original just doesn't cut it at all either. Here's Lesters on one of my KZ650s. They were probably one of the nicest mags ever in my opinion.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

i have the same size and make lester rims and the tires on em are 110 front 130 rear, they looked correct(swaped to spokes for now)...even parked next to a modern bike cuase the tire is shaped right and not squeezed by the narrow rim....plus with the chain in the rear and swing arm...and the fender bolts up front ...any bigger they will rub.......avons are getting some good feedback...search for the "cheng shin" thread i had a while back where guys talk about fair priced good tires ..avon and brigstones get good kzr reviews...good luck......

Funny how our perceptions change over the years.

Can easily recall first seeing the showroom floor 1976 KZ900-B1 LTD and thinking how terribly "locomotive" it looked compared to my svelte 1976 KZ900.

But I kept looking, then bought it, and have enjoyed it ever since. Now-a-days, the "fat" LTD tire looks pretty skinny to those craving the chopper-dragster look.

And Ron's bikes are indeed exquisite! :cheer:
(Except they could all most probably use a good clutch push rod adjustment).
