Sick, thanks supercharged. I was going to go with a 99 GSXR swingarm on ebay. It looks like there's little or no modification needed (possibly some easy flycutting/machining?). I will most definitely keep you guys posted on how it goes. However, it may be a couple months before I can bring the bike down to school (Darn VT weather!).

keep in mind the fit is good - a little shim on each side, but the 600 arm will require a sleeve in the pivot bolt.

What about newer ones? Some of the 04-07 are going cheap and they are braced. Some even come with the shock if a guy wanted to go with the single shock conversion. Will these fit?

Also, how big of a rear wheel/tire can you go with on the GS1100 arm?:P

If you don't mind a little work you can squeeze a 5.5" rim with a 180mm tire in a Gs1100E arm.

Ok guys. I'm really excited so I'll try my best to hold it in. Just got my swingarm today, GSXR 600 '03. Now, I'm going to need a sleeve for the pivot bolt.

I could definitely turn down and drill some aluminum (pipe or billet)... but out of curiosity, is there any aftermarket company that does this stuff?

My goal after that is a shock setup and lastly, the drive and brakes (w/ new wheel of course). Can't wait to get started!

I think i have a GSXR swingarm with all the brake parts.

It is taking up a lot of shelf room and i would like to move it along to someone that wants/needs it. I used a early Ninja swingarm on my bike. Roy

Had a little time to try and get the GSXR 600 swingarm fitted. Seems that I may have pick the machinist who thinks to much:( Here is what he said...

The goal for me was to build a collar that would sit inside the needle bearings of the GSXR swingarm and reduce down to the size the the KZ1000 pivot bolt of 16mm.

The issues:
  1. The material sitting on the needle bearings would have to be hardened steel, as the needle bearing will 'eat' through steel or aluminum and bind the bearing
  2. The 16mm bore for a distance of 8.75" is not practical, as the bore will flex and distort the hole
  3. Multi piece fitment is possible with hardend ends and aluminum center. This seems to be what OEMs use

Possible alternative:
  1. More practical approach may be to fit roller bearings at ends - replacing needle bearings - this would be 40mm OD cased (sealed) bearing with any ID 16mm or greater
  2. Since the exact bearing 40mm OD 16mm ID is not available... Set a collar inside the roller bearings to reduce the ID down to 16mm bolt size - This collar would not have to be hardened, since it will ride on the inside race of the sealed bearing.

Now I have to shop and figure this out.

QUESTION - I know others here have made collars for their swingarm applications... did you worry about the hardened steel over the needle bearings?
