Sorry, yep. already did the maths before writing it, should have said 'within 0.2v'
Rechecked the starter circuit. I had a corroded starter button. Still a little low but no relay flicking now.
Also today, the 'new' box arrived. Pinned it out before I plugged it in, same results as mine, resistance wise and......no start.
Need to find someone with a Zeph11 that works to check the pinouts on their CDI, or if local, who will allow me to put mine on theirs.
Thanks so far..it continues............
I would be very suspicious of two units being faulty in the same way !! is this a common problem on the ZR ??

The below thread from 2021 displays the same resistant results you are getting on the 8 pin plug
Zephyr 1992 Ignition module help! - KZRider Forum - KZRider, KZ, Z1 & Z Motorcycle Enthusiast's Forum

"While checking my Ignition module I got a surprise as well. I am measuring impedance according to my workshop manual and I find that the 8 pin connector fails on almost every measurement. Most measurements are infinite resistance and I only measure a c value between pin 7 and 8 (The correct value). The 10 pin connector is just fine".
How old is the battery in your meter ? since you are measuring kohms the battery my not be giving enough current to get a correct reading ? (just a thought)

Yeah, read that the other day, Unfortunately Jarno never followed up as to say what the issue was. Infuriating when people don't close threads off.
I have read that it is not uncommon which is possibly why that company you mentioned list a repair service and a more robust unit even though the bike wasn't a massive seller.
I know someone that has a Zeph11, although he is 2 1/2 hours away and just had an operation on his wrists so can't do anything at the moment otherwise he could have tested his unit.
I've a few more tests to do.
I've got all the plugs out and am going to strap all the bodies together with wire then ground them. Flick the started and look at the sparks. Any that are weaker will be swapped with good ones to decide whether it's the plug or circuitry. If circuitry it will also show up if it's a particular coil(s). There is also the possibilty to remove 2 coils and try it in conventional 2 coil, 4 plug setup.
Not sure if this will show anything but worth a go and costs nothing. Other than that it's a day out to do some parts swapping.

Right then. The FSM tells lies, or at least it does with mine and my friends multimeter. Those 8 pins that should have shown a measurement and didn't threw me down a rabbit hole.
New plugs turned up. The loud button now makes it LOUD. Started within a millisecond
I can only think that the test outside of the combustion chamber for the plugs isn't reliable enough and when under pressure they fail.
I'd like to thank everyone who has chipped in with special thanks to Guy. On another plus side, I've learnt a lot about testing and sorted my dirty starter button.
If only Jarno had followed his thread up.......
Cheers chaps

So often the simple things catch us out, look on the bright side, if you put the spare ignition module back on Ebay you may be able to cover the cost of the plugs in the resale :)
