KZ440Ltd 1982 - pulse igntion trap ?

guess what, the KZ1000 is still in parts all over the workshop and I'm now gonna go see a KZ440 Sunday morning... for my wife.
The owner says : "Has a no-spark issue. Replaced coil with a new one. Replaced igniter with a used one but still no spark. Suspect pulser sensor but hard to find."
When I look at Partzilla, it says the "coil-pulsing" is unavalable:

Am I walking into a trap ?
Can ignition be converted to a different setup ? points ?
Thanks

IMO converting to points would be a huge step backwards, but inexpensive.
I just ordered the 440 kit from 7th Gear Designs ( www.7thgeardesigns.com ). It will be a while before I can get it installed but have high hopes for it.

Not yet, these are just 2 nice photos from the FB ad. I'll go see the bike (and likely pick it up) Sunday morning.Do you have any pics of the pic-up, rotor and advancer under the ignition cover?
I am just wondering if this kind of ignition conundrum is a potential deal-killer...

Hot dam, 300 bucks for that kit, that is quite the investment... What is your reasoning there ?I just ordered the 440 kit from 7th Gear Designs ( www.7thgeardesigns.com ). It will be a while before I can get it installed but have high hopes for it.

They haven't really diagnosed the problem well.
I want to say pulser coils can be rewound.
Just figure out what size magnet wire you need and how many times you have to wind it.

Then bought a third one also on ebay, which tested the same again, so now he's at a loss. Maybe it was not the pulser that he swapped around, I am confused (at the moment) with ignition terminology, but by the end of this I shall hve more solid understanding...
And he needs to move and sell the bike.

Hopefully, the price is low enough.

USD 650...Yeah, I have a feeling that the problem is something simple he is not willing to diagnose.
Hopefully, the price is low enough.

The pulser coil was bad on ours...except it would cut out only when it got hot.
So it would be fine till 30 minutes in and it would die every 100 yards after a 10 minute cool down.
I used an ohm meter and a hairdryer to test mine.
I have a feeling your problem may be easier than mine.
We'll step you through the diagnosis and get the bike firing.

As you've seen, OEM ignition parts in known-good condition are not readily available. The 7th Gear option replaces all the parts - as a set - on either a points or electronic ignition engine, so I should have good spark indefinitely (so to speak) with no mucking about if it works as designed.
From a $$$ perspective, I paid $150 for a rolling KZ440B frame w/ title and $150 for an untitled but complete KZ440B basket case. A + B = a whole titled bike for $300 and some dirty hands, so there is a certain amount of flexibility in the budget.
Luckily I picked up a lot of parts (like the VM30s) before prices went up and some things became scarce.
