No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe igniter on my '82 GPZ1100 has seen better days, so I'm thinking of installing a Dyna S ignition like the one in the link below.

This kit eliminates the factory igniter, right?

I'm looking for feedback from those running this kit. Thanks.

Yes. Stand alone replacement no igniter required.
Just needs switched power from the ignition switch and 3 to 5 ohm coils.
Been running them for years no issues.
Got them on all my bikes.

I recently converted my 1980 KZ1000 LTD. Runs better than ever!

I have one beef about the Dyna S system. They recommend using their blue splice to attach to a power wire. I've had issues in the past getting the system to power up so I put a standard bullet connector on the red wire and attached it to the double brown femail connector near the headlight. This is a spare 12 volt connection on the main harness.
I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I agree with HRM, upgrade the red power wire, don’t use the scotch lock.

As far as the system, to quote a popular infomercial, “set it and forget it”

Only issue I had on my Z1b was (from what everyone has told me) the pickups are installed backwards from the factory, so when you install them you are maxed out in one direction (I forget which) for timing adjustments. From what I hear its an ongoing problem and I just need to swap pickup locations. I got it timed, but its litterally at the very end of adjustment.

I also plan on soldering the harness instead of depending on those wire taps.

You may have the wrong rotor fitted which will cause that problem.
There are two types marked either 3 and 3A.
3A is for the early Z1 rotor and 3 for the later 900/1000 rotor stamped 005.

OK thanks, it sounds like a winner.

Did you time it using a test light or use a timing light?

I'm close to starting this bike for the first time in 14 years.

Static time it per install directions and then once started use a timing light and dynamic time.

I just put it on my KZ900, with great results. Ditch the blue splice they provide, I wired it in with the wires they suggest but soldered them together instead of the splice.

I static timed mine and am spot on.

As far as I can tell by reading the FSM, the 82 kz1100 has coils with a range of 1.8 to 2.8 ohms, which is too low for the Dyna S. You would need to replace the coils as well.

Otherwise, I have used both the Dyna S and Dyna III and never had any issues with either one. Set and forget.
