Wiring Issue - Kawasaki KZ 650 Pin Connectors
21 Jan 2019 17:56 - 21 Jan 2019 18:12
Im wiring up a new brake light, 2001 ZX6E, on my bike. The newer brake light has a 3 pin connector. Each slot in the connector has wires going back to the two bulbs in the 2001 ZX6E light.
Since there are two bulbs in the tail light, each slot in the 3 pin connector on the ZX6E has two blue wires in one slot, 2 red wires in another, and 2 yellow/black wires in the remaining slot, for a total of 6 wires going into 3 slots.
The OEM connector on the bike has a 6 pin connector, using only 5 slots.
So my question is: I have to replace the 3 pin connector with a 6 pin connector on the ZX6E side.
Can I double up the two red wires, from the ZX6E light into one slot on the new 6 pin, also doing the same for the yellow and black into one slot and the blue into one slot on the new 6 pin connector I plan to get?
Also, where can I get a OEM six pin connector?
Ive added a wiring diagram below for the KZ650 and in theory, where you see 3 wires from the brake light going into the connector, I need to double each one to make it 3 going into three areas of the 6 pin connector. Hope all that makes sense.

I would splice in the connector from the old brake light (or buy another pigtail) and wire it in to the zx6e taillight. This way the bike's harness doesn't get cut up. I don't think adding a second bulb would overload that circuit so you should be fine just connecting 2 wires to the single of that function coming out of the pigtail.
Are the connectors on the 650 bullet connectors?
