Is anyone aware if a loose spark plug wire can send electric shock through the throttle cable on a kz? My friend has a kz550 and the starter button is malfunctioning.

I'm just bringing up the topic for discussion because she has to use pomade to keep her hair from frizzing after riding in a sleetstorm.

Unlikely, but conceivable if somehow completes a defacto secondary loop. An old hard cracked worn-out spark plug wire can leak voltage to the chassis and/or fuel tank which may be felt as a buzz through the fingers when for example moving the petcock to reserve position while riding.

Starter button allows current to activate the starter solenoid.
A malfunctioning starter button can sometimes be disassembled and restored to serviceable condition.

According to the ads, Brylcreem is superior to pomade.

LOL.. you guys are butal! This one is kinda hard to resist, so I see where everyone is coming from. lol

I am not sure about the bike you are referring to, but on my 81 Kz1000.. The throttle grip and handlebar twistie thingamabob, are both rubber and plastic / nylon materials, which are both non-conductive, to my knowledge.. and as far as someone with static electricity buildup.. I highly doubt that any ignition leakage could be stored like a battery causing frizzies.

The helmet, combines with low humidity conditions?? Perhaps Dave is right with the Vidal Sassoon recommendation.
