Starter lockout Switch on Clutch handle

I need to replace my clutch lever. I realized I never knew what the wiring from the clutch lever did. In doing some research it looks like it is for testing the starter solenoid. Is this something that can just simply be removed if I get a clutch lever without that hook up?

Unless you are also replacing the bracket assembly, this shouldn't be an issue if you replace the lever.
But If like mine, 77" KZ1000, you can follow the two wires it to your headlight bucket, or wherever,
and pull the two bare wires open, short them together, then insulate or use a wire nut and tuck them out of the way somewhere.

These "safety features" are for morons that shouldn't be riding a bike anyway. IMO

I picked up an assembly from a KZ440, looks like it should work fine.

I'd like to bypass my lockout too. Its a PIA and I'm going to be replacing my switch gear shortly. Mine has 3 wires, It looks like the 3rd goes to the reserve lighting box. Do I need to jump this wire somehow?

Actually, by looking closely at the diagram I think I have it figured but verification might be helpful. I tie the 2 wires to the lockout together than just wire my new high-beam switch into the blue/yellow line on the 3 pin connector. Sound about right?

I tried just tying the 2 wires together, at least I think that's what I did, but apparently the starter wont turn unless all wires are connected to the reserve light box.

I hate those stupid lockout "safeties" I turned my clutch "safety" switch into a anti theft device. I ran wire back to under the seat to a switch.

I've thought about that too! Thanks for the reminder. I'll pick up a switch this weekend. Any recommendations?
