76-80 KZ1000 wiring harness compatibility?

Hi guys, new member here!
Been going through a partial electrical fiasco on my 1980 KZ1000-E2 (shaft) harness: PN 26001-1079 main and -1069 rear. I was unable to find these specific items online; however, I found a new one that fits a 77-78 KZ1000 A1, A2, A2A from Z1 Parts Inc. I was wondering if they were compatible? Or close enough that it would require minors modifications. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I emailed Z1 Parts, but I would like to have multiple points of views.

You could look at the wiring diagrams, and compare - noting the the multiblock connectors etc. If just the connector placement within the block connector confuguration is different this is quite easy to sort. Look at the ignition switch, charging and ignition components and see if they are the same.

Really if you are going to be doing anything more than unpicking a few block connectors you would be better getting the right part. I transferred a GPZ11B loom on to my ELR and it was a lot more work than anticipated. The shaft drives seem less sought after and may be easier to find a breaker.

Alternatively there are companies that will copy your loom with new wire in the correct gauge and colour code with genuine Hitacjhi mini-block connectors. About £175 UK I'm told.

Don't underestimate the sub looms (switchgear, alternator, tail, clocks....generally the ones that cause the trouble that won't be included in the main harness. A good auto electrician could sort this for you, testing and replacing where necessary..

Thanks for your help guys. While searching some more, found several US companies that have custom made harnesses. Sparcko Moto sells a universal, trimmed down, basic harness and a bike-specific harness. Waiting for their response regarding application; however, I think this might just work for me. For sure Steve I will get a guarantee!

77-78 have a piece meal design, there's a main harness a junction block etc. 79-80 are a solid one piece junction blockless design

Do you have a harness already? it can be repaired / copied.
