Yeah, I am not too worried about the ball bearing (yet) I am going to head out tomorrow and see if I can rent/buy a puller that will work.

swest wrote: Take a rod and tap on the ball bearing until it gets loose. What you need is a puller that screws on. I used lock tight on a old rotor I thought was wobbling. I had to heat it up until the pressure of the bolt popped it off.

I'm not saying beat on it. Just a light tapping to dislodge it.

Just use the right tool, before you mess something up (like getting a ball bearing jammed in there) the tool with the puller arms will mess up the outside of the rotor, and the ball bearing has a chance to gall up the crank threads or just get stuck in there. I have done a few stubborn ones with an impact gun and a hammer, tighten bolt down a bit, then smack with hammer, tighten again smack again. Bit excessive tho.

Yeah, after sleeping on it you guys are probably right...I went ahead and ordered the Motion Pro 16mm bolt to take it out with. Now the hard part will be staying out of the garage and away from the motorcycle until the tool gets here B)

Funny what you can find in your own tool box sometimes. I found this puller, Looked at the black bolt in the middle and thought gee, that looks familiar. It is 16mm, and must be the same pitch as inside the rotor, as it will thread in. It is hardened, I think all I would need to do is grind down the little nib on the end. I already ordered the Motion Pro one, but dang, I want to *work* on that bike

Why grind off that nib on the end? It won't bother anything.

Well, I got that rotor off yesterday! The three allen bolts were not loose, so that was not the problem. All three of the springs were different lengths, and one of the three rollers had some *mild* looking wear on it. Not sure what the cutoff for good/no-good is, so I ordered a rebuild kit for it. The big gear on the back of the assembly did not look too bad, but then I found a guy on fleaBay that had one, new old stock, still in the Kawasaki packaging for $65.00 with free shipping, soooo, not wanting to do this again any time soon (if ever) I got one.

Question; the rubber damper, on mine it is pretty hard, more like plastic, so I assume I should replace it also. How do I know which of the three to get?
