My 20a fuse blew and I left my fuses at home can I wire it without it? About 10 minutes from home.

Only if you are willing to chance setting the bike on fire.

The fuse could have blown because it was a bad fuse.

OR

The fuse could have blown because there was a short circuit or other problem that caused an unreasonably high load on that circuit. Ed

Well the little black thing next to it was pretty hot too. What could it be?

I don't know, but it sounds like you might need to troubleshoot your wiring and electrical components. Ed

I guess that's possible. I would start by checking the circuit that's controlled by the 20amp fuse. There may just be a short between a wire and the frame or engine caused by chafing of the wire's insulation. Ed

Please, don't ride it until you find and fix the wiring problem. I have let the smoke out of a few wiring harnesses in my time and its never fun or cheep to fix.

In a pinch, you can wrap the foil from a cigarette pack around the fuse. (1 layer) It will fry pretty fast but you might be able to find the short or limp home.

Thanks guys! The regulator was getting pretty hot. Might be going bad cuz I looked for a bad wire and couldn't find one. I used the 10A fuse from the headlight and put my hand on the reg. as I road. When it got too hot I pulled over and waited for it to cool down. Finally got home. So dumb for leaving my repair kit at home. I was preppin it for a long ride. Tomorrow I'll go through the manual checklist. Can't thank you enough for your help Ed.

They do get hot, that's what the cooling fins are for. I'd unplug the regulator and feel the fuse to see if it's still getting hot. If so, the problem is further up the system. Check the switches.
Also test for voltages with a charged battery.

Ya but was getting super hot. My seat was getting hot before the fuse blew. The battery was fine. I'll get the trusty voltmeter.

They can go bad. You can unplug it and do most of the tests. Manual?
