looks like an odd bit of wire that has been grafted in, Blue is often the tail lamp live feed.

Blue/red is oil level, which goes to the sender on the sump for oil level or pressure, neutral warning sender is also in that area.

Question is where does it go to? Sort all your electrics and do that last.

Other ends can't be found.bike started by start/kill switch when I first bought the bike..solenoid went bad..replaced it,but switch still didn't work..started it with screw driver for long time..then starter went bad..as I was putting new one in I noticed the blue wire..everything from turn signals to brake lights work fine..not real experienced at electrical problems..trying to figure it out before putting back together..thanks for advice..anymore you could figure would be much appreciated.

Until something better comes along, here's a wiring diagram for the 1983 KZ550-F1, which may be similar to the 1984 F2.

Unfortunately, it's not in living color.

The blue wire is labeled L .

If I'm correctly following the diagram, possible blue wire terminals would include:

front brake light switch
rear brake light switch
front turn signal lights
tail light
reserve lighting unit
turn signal switch
10 amp fuse

An ohmmeter may be helpful toward finding the other ends, because it will show conductivity between points connected by the wire (unless the wire is broken between the points).

May scroll down to last diagram in this link:

Good Fortune! :)

In that under casing area there is only about 5 wires: 3 yellow tails from alternator stator, one oil warning light and the neutral switch. there is also a side stand cut out on some models.

If all these are working and no other electrical faults then i'm pretty certain it is non original wiring in that colour.

It would be good to get a meter or test light onto it, and see if it is + or -, try all your other circuits as it might be wired to something else, with ignition switch in all positions. A live + could blow a fuse if it grounds out there on the motor...otherwise forget it. Lots of old bikes have all manner of electrical bodging.

Kickstand wire works .dies sometimes because plunger needs oiled..don't know about front brake lighting..rear brake light, turn signals work good..not sure tie straps came on the bike..they're white/clear just old and disclosed.. the ones around the starter wire harness..picture of blue wire is literally all the blue wire that's there..anyone have owners manual for these years..it covers about 5 or 6 years range of these bikes..I'll look at main wiring harness tomorrow, but I've had bike for about 14 months..never noticed anything even remotely wrong or touched at all..thanks everyone..always open for suggestions.
