on a 1980 KZ750, Can anyone tell me how to get to the speedo and tach bulbs for replacement? I removed the 2 chrome 8mm nuts on the back of the housing, but I did not see how to get the front face off to get to the bulbs. Any help is truly appreciated.

NO L.E.D. I know of will take direct 12Vdc....
As in our LED tail lights, resistor network to bump down the Voltage/current for operations henceforth longevity.

Need resistor configuration to bump down the voltage to ~ 1,2 Vdc....
Do these L.E.D. replacements include the resistor otherwise they would burn out....?

The LED's have a small resistor built in. I sent the seller a message and he offered me one bulb or $2 off the price. I told him I'd run them a week and get back to him. I'll ask him to send me a bulb but this time I'll use crazy glue on each one I get. They are still working and brighter than the stock ones. $5 delivered is worth the experiment. If they burn out, than $5 a bulb might be the answer.

I have been running LED's in all but the signal indicators and have had good luck with only one failure in the past.

I did upgrade the dials to these last year:

The mounts inside the gauges are kind of "tube" shaped and don't really lend themselves to the more direct LED light path that's why I went with the more is better route.

I really like them on the road.

Be sure to use some dielectric grease while you are at it.

Hi Steve,
Once the chrome housings are off, then........just pull up on the instrument tach/odo? Am I missing something?
Thank you for responding.
Best,
Jerry

You don't have to open the gauge housings. I'm planning on doing a thread on that. On the bottom of the housings are black plugs like corks with wires in them. Carefully pry them out and change the lights. The ones you buy now don't last, that's why I tried the LED style. Because they're so hard to get to, I would suggest buying the better type. If mine burn out, that's what I'll do.
