Yes. Look at the diagrams for the 650-CSR & a 750-Ltd-4. The lens unit isn't sealed - the opening at the back accepts the H4 bulb.jbalet666 wrote:

You just need an H4 bulb, lens unit, & grommet. If you check the diagrams, you'll see that everything else is the same. Z1Enterprises.com has the bulb. The lens unit I got was a little cloudy but it cleaned up very easily.
see that was my first idea but i got kind of iffy seeing that it was a sealed unit i thought they were pretty model specific
but i much rather do this if at all possible
so you just replaced the lens unit to a later kawi one that utilized a ruseable bulb and got a halogen bulb?
luckily there is the largest bike swap meet in this area this coming weekend
FYI - according to the Kawasaki service manual for the 81 650, the stock sealed beam unit is a 60/50W. The stock Ltd H4 bulb is 60/55W, so it draws more power on low beam.

That's interesting as it is considerable higher than earlier models. Do you know if they changed the output of the generator or any other electrical stuff in '81? Ed

Flickers a little at idle but has not been a problem. Unique low beam.
Good luck,

I always use a motorcycle specific H4 lamp assembly and upgrade the headlight circuit by installing a pair of relays, heavy 12 gauge wiring with an inline fuse on the positive side and a high temp headlight plug.

The 81 KZ650 is more similar to the 750-4s and has the same stator & electronic ignition (the earlier 650s had points ignition). The 81 650-D4 came stock w either a quartz-halogen headlight 60/55W or 60/40W.650ed wrote:
