Stock coils on models with Kawasaki electronic ignition are often less than 3 ohms.

I figure if replacing, go with 3's, just because you'll be fine with either the stock or dyna s system down the road.

Most of the factory electronic ignition systems used 2.3 ohm (but usually measure higher, like 2.5 to 2.7).
The factory points coils, which is what your bike would have come with, had 4 ohms.

YES. You will fry the coil and maybe some wiring.gumby prichard wrote: so this could cause a problem with my electrical system correct? i mean if i have a point system and im using 2ohm coils when i should have 4ohm coil, which would allow a higher current, could burn up something? correct?

Yes, the stock 750 twin with points used a 4 Ohm coil which would work fine with your Dyna ignition.gumby prichard wrote: this sounds contradicting. im confused, wait ok so you're saying the coils i have currently, the (4cyl) coils are most likely 2 ohms, but my stock kz750 twin coils(if i had them) would be 4ohms? correct?

Z1 sells four Ohm EMGO coils with wires for $36 each.gumby prichard wrote: thank you guys, this would probably explain why the condensor that was in it that looked brand new was not working..... you guys have been much help. I will try to find a higher resistance coil until i find a fair price on a dyna 3 ohm.
I've been running one for 6 years and it works great.
