Yes, as TexasKZ found.

It's all the same fitment on the motor. I've swapped kz550 ignitions with kz650 and kz750-4 ignitions. The only difference is the advancer curve, which is not affected by the Dyna S. (And, of course, you can't use any of the 4-cyl advancers because they rotate the opposite direction of your twin.)

KZ440 advancer, pickup, and igniter, that's all you need to convert. The points plate is removed and the ignition pickup bolts to the case. You have to use the entire 440 advancer because the rotor won't fit on the 750 advancer. The 440 has a little more total advance but I've used both 440 and 750 advancers and can't tell any difference.

Thanks, Steell.
So the 440 doesn't have a big round timing plate, just the half-moon plate with a pickup on it?

Also, does this mean the Dyna S rotor won't fit on the 750 twin advancer? Or does it mean the Dyna S rotor won't fit on the 440 advancer?

I know we talked about rotor inside diameters etc., before, but I never seem to remember the details on the rotor/advancers for the twins.

correct loudhvx, here's a look

quite simplistic, i just figure getting the dyna s would be easier, dont have to worry about switching advancers or buyd the igniter box etc etc. with dyna s its all there.

if i end up not liking the dyna s i will most def go with the 440 swap.

loud hvx i think what they are saying is the dyna s rotor will fit the 750 twin advancer, but the 440 rotor will not fit the 750 advancer so you must switch the 440 rotor and advancer. SO for the 440 swap you need the pickup, rotor, advancer, and ignition box, but the rotor should already come with the advancer i would think...

Yes, I think that's how I'm understanding it now. When it's all confirmed, I'm going to write it down somewhere. :)

dyna s ignition ordered, will update!

To clarify, can i use a stock kz750 twin b coil? with this ignition?

Yes, but it's a four Ohm coil. The Dyna typically uses a lower resistance coil.

well i plan on buying a 3ohm dyna coil, but in the meantime im ok to just get the bike running with this 4 cyl denso coil i have?

what will happen if short term i use this coil, lets say it has less ohms than it should? Im assuming if it has more that causes more resistances preventing the ignition from getting a good spark...correct or is it vise versa?

The Dyna S works fine with a 4 ohm coil. The dwell is much longer than the points had so there is no need to get a faster coil. It's really just an issue of old coil failing. If the coil is over 20 to 30 years old, I wouldn't trust it for long trips.

so having a 2ohm or a 3ohm coil wont hurt anything?

and so is it safe to assume that the coil i have is a 4ohm coil? I dont have a multimeter and if i can get around buying one it would be greatly appreciated.
