For now, may ignore the charging system (alternator, regulator and rectifier).
And also ignore the chassis electrical (lights, etc.).
Begin with a good fully charged battery.
A coil is grounded (and charging up) while points are closed.
When the points open, the coil becomes ungrounded and fires through the plug wires.
Many different conditions could prevent spark at the plug.
Would first measure the voltage between battery terminals, which should be about 13 volts.
What is the battery voltage?

dizl27 wrote: I need to pickup a new voltometer. What does the blue/red wire from the points represent. Also should i run the battery through the ignition switch before the points or straight battery to points? Thanks again
blue/red wire from the points -- to oil pressure switch.
May remove the red/yellow wires from both coils, and provide voltage to the coils by running a hot wire from the positive battery terminal to each coil primary terminal (thereby replacing the red/yellow wires from the harness with the hot wires from the battery).
This hot wiring is like turning on the ignition switch, so don't leave the bike with the hot wires hooked up indefinitely which will burn out the coil.
Disconnecting the hot wires is like turning off the ignition switch.
Leave the black and green wires alone.
Good Fortune!
