Ive now printed out about 4 different wiring diagrams and for some reason i still cant get my kz going. Im seeing no spark in my wires for one so im guessing my coils are not hooked up right. Im really just looking for any pointers and how to go about this project. Its my first build and when i stripped it i stripped it. I have a few pictures that helped me mount the motor back up but other than that im in th dark. Im trying to bare bones this project so a simple dumby proof wireing diagram would be great. Ill try to put some pictures of my bike if i can figure it out. Thanks

I think I'd worry more about the lack of rigidity in that modified backbone than the electrical system. Have you considered how to strengthen it so you don’t end up with a flexible flyer? Ed

i still got all my gussets to install and some grinding to too here and there. Frame feels pretty stout how it is. Just curious if im going to run in to alot of engine problems. I started this project with big hopes and now im just upset.

For the engine to run, its only electrical need is a healthy properly timed spark.
For now, may ignore the charging system (alternator, regulator and rectifier).
And also ignore the chassis electrical (lights, etc.).
Begin with a good fully charged battery.
A coil is grounded (and charging up) while points are closed.
When the points open, the coil becomes ungrounded and fires through the plug wires.
Many different conditions could prevent spark at the plug.
Would first measure the voltage between battery terminals, which should be about 13 volts.
What is the battery voltage?

I need to pickup a new voltometer. What does the blue/red wire from the points represent. Also should i run the battery through the ignition switch before the points or straight battery to points? Thanks again

blue/red wire from the points -- to oil pressure switch.
May remove the red/yellow wires from both coils, and provide voltage to the coils by running a hot wire from the positive battery terminal to each coil primary terminal (thereby replacing the red/yellow wires from the harness with the hot wires from the battery).
This hot wiring is like turning on the ignition switch, so don't leave the bike with the hot wires hooked up indefinitely which will burn out the coil.
Disconnecting the hot wires is like turning off the ignition switch.
Leave the black and green wires alone.
Good Fortune!

My coils like all have 2 wires which are black and yellow plus the spark plug wires. I tie the two points wires to the black and the yellow to the positive feed off the battery? Sorry if i am asking too much. I just dont feel like frying anything. Also as soon as i place these lines all together will or should i see a spark at the ends?
