When you check for spark by pulling a plug wire and making the spark jump from that plug wire to the engine, don't try to make it jump more than 1/2 inch or you can damage coils and/or ignitor. You can usually get 3/4" and maybe 1" occasionally, but you're starting to push your luck at 3/4".
