A good crimped termination is vibration resistant and is gas tight, that is air and moisture cannot intrude causing corrosion and failure.

Soldering is another way of making a connection, the negative part of this method is that the solder usually wicks up inside the wire's insulation making it stiff, prone to vibration failure.

Good work. I think I have the wiring figured out. Think this is an application from a different year? Any ideas on how I can verify the wiring? Should my choice of terminals matter?

Choice of connectors does not matter, so long as they are good rugged quality, that cannot simply fall apart.

I was actually referring to whether my connections to the terminal on that hazard regulator needed to be per a specified terminal or if it mattered. This item is shown as a relay on all 3 of the different diagrams I have reviewed for this year and model.
