LED 1157 bulbs from eBay? was created by 9am53
I replaced my brakelight bulbs with a couple LEDs from my local princess auto, they were expensive and seem to be dim. My new ebay LED turn signals are MUCH brighter, has anybody had good luck finding bright 1157 replacements on ebay?

I was thinking something liek this:

cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-24-LED-1157-20...fPartsQ5fAccessories

there are LED's on the side to light up the lisence plate and side windows in the brakelight box.

If those come in colors like they appear to, easy custom apps would be endless.

I know, and they are inexpensive too! I jsut don;t want to get them and find out they are dimmer than my old filament bulbs...as bad as it is to buy stuff from china on ebay, I can't help it. For odds and ends for my bike and aquariums eBay is the ticket!

I use these in my turn signals/running lights. They are quite dim for the tail light however. This is why I built my own LED tail light.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThese on the other-hand I think might work quite well. They have the required LEDs to take advantage of the reflector inside your tail light and will be inherently brighter because they are white and not red like the other ones.

I actually took the red filter out of the light box, since I wanted the cleared out look for the brake light, so these going through the red filter would likely not be that bright. Also, these have fewer LEDs pointing straight back, so I would think although there is the reflectors it would again be dimmer. I will check out the truck supplies section at Princess Auto and get one of those rounded rectangle ones that have the BIG lEDs in them. I wonder if they have 2 or 3 leads...When you built yours did you wire the LEDs together yourself, or did they come wired and ready for 3 leads?

I just bought a bag of LEDs than had to figure out the resistors required for the two intensities and also how many in series for the 12-14v system than how many of those sets to give me what I wanted. Unfortunately since i was laid off, I do not have the access to all those nice facilities.

Tonight I am going to return the replacement bulbs I got and get a square truck light like the one above and let yall know. Just to test it out before I mount it can I hook my 1 amp trickle charger to the leads to light it up? I tried that for my bike and the bike didn;t like it...

The only ones bright enough for brake lights are the 3W Luxeon LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com.

Actually RED LEDs are inherently brighter than white and much more efficient based on light output for power used.
