Why did you think you needed to take off the starter motor?
What were the symptoms? What model 750 is it? 4 cylinders or 2. Can you bump start the bike? Does the engine run?
The more information you can give us, the better advice we can give in return. If, after we give you good advice, the bike still doesn't run, then consider Lapeeray's advice.
Best of luck,
Grant.

If it's the 750/4 then the starter motor should be on the left side. Remove the gear change foot lever. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the sprocket cover/casing in place. Remove the sprocket cover. Just behind cylinders 1 & 2 is the chrome rectangular shaped cover for the starter motor. Take that off. The starter motor looks like a cylinder. Pull it out. When it is partway out turn it over and undo the nut that attaches the power wire.
Good Luck
Edit - forgot to mention there should be a bubber boot over the nut

If you're going to keep the bike or do much work on it you should consider buying the Kawasaki factory service manual. They're generally available on eBay, just be sure to get the one for your exact year/model. They really are worth their weight in gold. Good luck with your "new" KZ. Ed
PS Don't forget to get a couple (small scale and larger scale) torque wrenches if you don't already have them. It's important to use them so you don't strip the threads in the aluminum engine.

I was out in the garage today trying to get the bike to start an couldn't,first she would crank but not turn over an white smoke coming out of the exhaust.Second I looked at the spark plugs #1,#3,and #4 were good, but #2 was black, why is that?Third gas was coming out the bottom of my carbuertor does this mean need new one or new gaskets? An finally in my oil sight glass there was white substance I could see,is this gas,an if so how did it get in there?Oh before I forget is it normal for starters on these bikes to chirp while trying to start the bike? Please help me wife getting mad.

needle and seats would be a good place to look for your fuel leakage and if there is gas in the bottomend start looking there. no 2 plug could be fouled. he white substance could be from condesation buildup i have seen that lots in the past and you got the bike for free what has your old lady got to bitch about. that is the reason i never got remarried and why i freakin rent from time to time.
