I need to mount front signal lights on fork...

I just put a different handle bar on my KZ305 and now there's not enough room to mount the front signal lights on the handle bar. There's a perfect location on the upper part of the fork, but the fork is 1.25 inch diameter and the signal light mounts only fit a 7/8 inch bar.

Does anyone know where I can find proper signal light mounts to fit the fork? All it is is a two piece pipe fitting with a hollow post sticking off of it and a spot for one of the wires to screw into. I'm sure there's gotta be something that will work out there, but I haven't the foggiest idea on what it's called or where to look.

The website www.kuryakyn has several clamps for running lights and turn signals. They should be able to clamp onto the fork tubes for the signals.

Best thing I can tell ya is to go to your local hardware supply store and do some shadetree engineering. Some of the best stuff I have seen came from this time tested method. Poke around and keep an open mind. ALSO, Make sure you do not interfere with the fork operation. If you are talking about the tubes my opinion would be not to clamp on them. At the least it would be a moisture trap.

Another thing... you have to keep in mind is shock and vibrations. You'll go through bulbs like crazy if you hardmount in a heavy shock area.

PLUMMEN: That's a good idea!

I found these on ebay...

I'm guessing that would work fine. There is definately enough room on the headlight mount to drill and mount them.

I was looking at the silver bullet style lights, but they are like $100 and the included mounts are too big for my forks.

These look like the same lights as what's already on my bike (81 KZ305). Only difference is they are mounted on a longer hollow rod instead of a clamp.

Any way I look at it though this is probably the cheapest route. I can probably get them for like $26 with shipping!

If your handlebar turn signals are the same as what're on my 81 650-CSR and your headlite bolts are 10mm, the easiest & maybe cheapest thing to do would be to get some turn signal stems & dampers from Z1Enterprises.com. Replace the brackets w the stems, then install the setup in place of the headlite bolt - use the nuts, washers, etc from the old bucket & bolt.

If there isn't a way to reconnect the ground wires to the turn signals after installing the stems & there isn't a grouding wire at the headlite bolt inside the bucket, you'll need to use the ground wires from the turn signals. Since the stock grounding connector is teeny tiny, replace those w 10mm ring connectors to fit over the threaded end of the stems - the 10mm lug will be too big for the stock wire - I simply shoved a short piece of wire into the lug to make it tight, then crimped it & coated the connection w LiquidSolder. It dries stiff but has some flex to it. JMK.
pretty much what i did to a "t" when i went to diffrent bars. got the shortest stems from z1 and used pipe insulation to cover the square shape that was showing on the stem. didnt even have to drill out the hole as the stem fit thru perfectly. wiring was a breeze.

Thanks for all your input and especially that last pic! I have decided to get the 35mm (shortest) stems from Z1. Cost me about $18 with shipping.

Unfortunately I had already bid on those other lights, so I sent a message requesting to retract my bid. They would have worked, but the stems are alot longer and I think they'd look funny.

Again, thanks for the pic, I'm sure this will work. Only problem I have now is that the signal lights are clamped onto the old post so hard I'm going to have to try to pry it open to get them off. Hope I don't mess them up now..

Thanks again!
