I just bought a H4-2 set for a car and got in essence two motorcicle kits for $72 including shiping from Hong Cong. But I decided that I did not like the shifting bulb idea and bought the dual bulb set instead. There are two bulbs mounted on the same socket. The Lo beam is xenon and the Hi is Quartz. Since I almost never use the Hi Beam, that is just fine for me. Here are some pictures of the single kit I bought before.

JC Whitney has a HID kit $466. painful..

But they also have a halogen kit for $45, so you could start there then go for the abovementioned chinese shipper clipper kit to make it HID.

My 83 L1 has a 7" halogen bulb reflector, so 'stock' parts may be an option for you as well.

Edit: Oh I see Tsar's price for a reflector from Cycle-recycle is cheaper than the JCW price..

You should be able to find a "Semi-Seald" lens either on eBay or from one of the noumerous suppliers. They are available since no one uses sealed beams any more. Here is a shot of the dual bulb. Check Bike bandit Or Ron Eyers.

Hey Otakar
Does your kit have a positive, negitive hookup to your battery or is it a direct plug only in to the 3 prong where the bulb normaly plugs in.

(Just the 3 prong to the ballast to the bulb no battery hook-up)

In the pic it looks like there is red & black wires going to your 3 prong plug.I'm just curious as to the difference from the kit I got from HK.Please keep me posted after you hook up your kit I'm curious to see your light in action. If it is a better kit I'll recommend it to the guys I ride with.

Thanx

I have question regarding this kit. After I installing the system and took the bike for a ride I notice my headlight failure light on. I also notice the headlight flickering as I was riding, I was wondering if this is normal or has this happened to anyone else. I have a 1980 Z1-R. It has the reserve lighting device, could that be an issue with the flickering.

I've had experiance with HIDs doing that. It's either poor voltage or poor ground. I recommend doin a WG coil mod and running a straight ground to the battery to stop the flickering. As for the failure light your guess is as good as mine

Yes, your problem is the reserve lighting device. This device MUST be bypassed. You can blow the ballast on the HID. My system is a direct plug in. I just plug it in to my three prong connector where the old bulb plugged in and that is it. You can see the installation in my thread on page 15.

I've contacted Xenonlink HID System Inc. regarding the issue, their sending me a "special harness" supposedly for a more stable current, so I have to wait and see. I will look into the reserve lighting to by pass it.

Otakar, I did see the trend. I have the same 3 prong connector with in the system. I like the clear lense look.
