Pilot air screw

I've taken the carbs apart for cleaning.  The issue is that all four carbs had a different adjustment on pilot screws.  Some were 1 turn out and another was 2.  What's a good starting point for the initial adjustment?  Thank you.

One other question.   How do you install the little silver plug, over the pilot jet?

It just pushes in if it has the right size "O" ring in decent condition

You mention KZP on your other posts. So are You talking about the BS34's? Silver plug?? Are you talking about the pilot adjust cover plug? If BS34's then i start with 2-2.5 turns out.

Wookie, I cannot get it to just push in.  I've tried and it just falls out.   Asphalt900, yes. it's a 2000 KZP.  I'll try 2 turns out, and no, it's the little silver plug, inside the carb.

Where did you get the "O" rings from - if correct they should "pop" in (I have just done mine)

Hello I tend to start with 1.5 turns out. Should be ok. The carbs may have different jet sizes. That maybe why the screws have turns out.
anyway 1.5 turns out is a good place to start.
hope it helps

If the pilot screws where all on different settings it may be somebody was trying to compensate for other issues like leaking choke plungers or an air leak etc ?

Aw-ha. You're talking about the pilot bypass drilling plug, get it now. You said center in photo, regardless. Just set it in casting and use an original square o-ring or a similar round oring that fits tight around the carb casting insert. All this does is seal off possible suction from air/fuel, not that critical. They weren't plastic but rubber, duplicate along all 4.

Not sure if this will be of any help or not, but both the plug (part# 92066-1087 at $4,74 per) and the o-ring (part# 92055-1059 at $8.96 per) are both listed as in stock on Partzilla.

That's interesting Clay, mine has hard plastic rings whose only purpose seems to be supporting the gasket over the plug recess as the gasket seals around the plug recess ??
