Where to buy Carburetor??!!
15 Dec 2022 05:18
Hello, Im planning to buy another set of carbs for my 750 4cylinders.. now Ive CV34MM, and I would like to put in a set of VM28ss or SC.. can you guys tell my what is the difference between these 2 kind of carburetor?! The reason of this change is because my CV34 are not Tuneable with my pods.. the VM carburetor seems to be rare, where I can buy a set of mechanical carbs.. or does someone has another brand of carburetor to suggest me?

You don't want the SC carbs they are the early Z1 with external linkage which as well as being known to wander out of sync are also more sought after and to be honest are not that great compared to the SS type.
You are better off with some vm26ss or vm28ss which are more common and there are a few sets on ebay.
Other than those the only other readily available mechanical slide option is some Keihin CR29's which more then likely will have to be bought new ( I wouldn't bother with secondhand overpriced VM29MM smoothbores )

"my CV34 are not Tuneable with my pods"
Before you spend a lot of $ on new carbs have you considered that the problem might be the particular brand of pods?
Some brands of cheap pods have an internal lip that will block or partially block carb air jets. Good pods like K&N or APE do not have the lip.
I have a 1980 KZ750 /4 E1 with CV34s and ran K&N pods for years with 70 primary main jets and 140 secondary mains. No problems except 1 bad day in heavy rain

Humm.. you make me doubt a bit!! I run real K/N pods. 0.5 needle shim, 135 main jet, 70 primary is not available yet so I run the stock one.. when I ride at low RPM (1500-3000) The bike run like a crap and 3000 to 7500 is like demon!! So over 7500 rpm it will go to 9-10 000 rpm instantly without go faster.. maybe my CV carb are tired? I already lubricate my rubber… ?!!!!

Dynojet makes a kit for the CV34's. Another option is Mikuni BS34's, as used on various year 750-1100 KZ bikes. You can put a dynojet kit in those too. I have several sets of BS34's for sale, if you decide to make the change.

Re: Where to buy Carburetor??!!
15 Dec 2022 08:52Correct. BS34's make more power than CV34's, because they don't have a choke butterfly valve blocking airflow. Kawasaki put them on the GPz 750 variant bikes, for that reason.Bs34 are vacuum operated like cv34?

15 Dec 2022 09:17 - 15 Dec 2022 10:05The honda did have Keihin carbs but they are spaced differently to the KZ and they are not CR's.Google says that Cb750 Honda came with these Keihin and they are supposed to fit on KZ ?!
If you are not fixed on using VM or similar mechanical slide carbs then fit air correctors to cure the off idle bogging.
No need to change needle position, pilot jets or anything else except increase the main jet size..

Ideally for CV carbs you are best fitting dual pods as well to help balance out the individual intake pulses that causes slide flutter.

Maxbou92,
Where are you located? Stock jets - 60 or 62 and 120 or 125 are to small for pods but I have to admit I never shimmed needles . Tried to remove needle from slide but to tight and I quit before I did any damage. Have heard good things about Dynajet kits but have read the instructions and as the process involves drilling the slides there is no going back.
