The "Unicorn" fuel tap? 1981 KZ1000P was created by wallster
I have a 1981 KZ1000P and the fuel tap needs some love, specifically a rebuild kit. I've searched high and low and I'm unable to find a fuel tap or rebuild kit for this specific fuel tap.
Any other models use the same one?

Thanks,

Wally

Go to partzilla and enter your specific info. click on the part you're looking for ant it will take you to a page that lists all the other models that use the same part... right down to the color.

If yours is a 1981 cop bike, it is  a KZ1000C3, not a KZ1000P and that fuel tap and it’s parts are no longer available from Kawasaki. K&L may still make the rubber parts.

I went to that exact site and page. None of the Diaphragm parts are available (ring, spring, valve assembly, etc) these are what I really need to make it work properly.
Thanks!

It'll work for now but I'll have to make something else work over the winter. Old bike, one off fuel tap... that's how it goes.
Thanks!

The parts aren't available on that site, but if you put the part numbers into a search engine you might have some luck.

For example,  this came up when I searched the diaphragm part number. It's worth a shot for whatever else you may need.

Rebuilding fuel taps is very hit or miss.  Mostly miss, unless you can find OEM parts for the rebuild.  Aftermarket kits are notorious for not fitting. Unless OEM bits can be found, I'd skip the rebuild and look for a new tap.  Measure the center to center bolt distance and go hunt eBay.  Most of the time you can find something decent that way.

My thoughts exactly... just need an ON-OFF fuel valve that bolts up.
