Odd question? How do you measure for spring clip fastners for a 13mm fuel line?

Odd question? How do you measure for spring clip fastners for a 13mm fuel line?
I need to order some clips for my new 13mm (ID 5/16") fuel line. I assume that 13mm clips will be too large and slide off? 11mm or 12mm the way to go?
Suggestions?

Check here they have about 8 different sizes. I have used them several times... fast shipping and reasonable price.

The fuel line & clamp size should be the ID, and the OD of the fuel line will be larger, so the same size clamp should fit.

I think 13mm is the OD of his fuel line. The 5/16" line is a tiny bit bigger than 8mm ID.

What nice about the site I posted is they list the clamps in the ID size. Measure to OD of your hose and get one size smaller...

You choose the clamp size by the hose outer diameter.
Whoever manufactures the clamps factor in clamping pressure, no need to go down a size.

I have been getting a lot of my small hardware items including hose clamps from a place called Belmetric. Great people to deal with and ship very quickly in most cases. I have used a bunch of their Fuji locknuts. Here is a link:

That doesn't make sense as the thickness of the hose material is different depending on on the type and who is manufacturing the hose, i.e. the OD of one manufacturer's hose can be larger or smaller than another manufacturers hose even though both hoses have the same ID.

Just twist up a piece of safety wire to the size of your fuel line.
Works great, been doing it since back in the 70's!!!!!

I don't run a clamp. If you use OEM type stretchy fuel line that properly fits the petcock nipple it won't leak.

This may be true, but the KZ650 bikes came from the factory with clamps. I suspect other models also came with clamps. Of course the original clamps were a bit wimpy. Ed

It's a general rule I use. OP was wondering about the clamp sliding off the hose. In cases where the fuel line wall is thick, then a guy has to use some common sense to decide what clamp to get. Some clamps are sold to fit a range of fuel line sizes, so this often times accounts for the varying wall thickness, and going by the I.D. is a simple rule. Not that I buy clamps very often, but I've never had a problem buying a hose clamp. I like Moose clamps.
