Hi.

Can anyone tell me the origin of these carbs? Believed they were for a ZX550/GPZ550 but the throat diameter is 38mm (see attached pictures) and believe the one for the GPZ550 is only 32 /33 mm. Additionally what are those electrical wires protruding out of the bottom? What are those for?

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Best Regards

The Zx550's would have been CV TeiKei brand carbs.

Not sure what those Keihins are from.

You have ZR550 Zephyr carbs with an electric heater System

Throat diameter is the ID not the OD

The ZX550 Carbs used only one cable, and had a 3 position choke knob. Looks like those carbs have a manual choke??? The CV30 Carbs from the ZR550, use 2 cables (push and pull), and also used a cable operated choke(enrichment) operated from the left handlebar switch. Would be interesting to see the number stamped on the slide needles, and also the number on the main jets. Also, on the CV30 Zephyr ZR550, carbs 2 and 3 had the same main jets, but 1 and 4 were different. Needles were the same in all, and so were the pilots.

CoreyClough is right.

Some ZR550 carb specs

The ZR750 main Jet size 82-85-85-82 are way too lean, due to European emission regulations,
The ZR750 engine run powerless over 6000 rpm!!!
The ZR550 main Jet size (108-110-110-108) are the best for the ZR750 engine.
Don´t ask why i know it.

The Zephyrs and zx/gpz600’s never had a choke (enrichment circuit) that was a manual slide. They were all cable actuated.
Those are from either a late model gt550 or gt750. The 550’s will be 30mm and the 750 will be 32mm. So the needle and jet info from the Zephyrs will likely not apply but the GT jetting will surely be appropriate as long as they are used with an air box. (Like-for-like as in gt550 carbs on a gpz550 engine...etc)
As mentioned before, the size of the carbs are determined by measuring the inner diameter of the carb where it attaches to the intake manifold.
The CVK carb spacing is different than the gpz factory carbs, so zephyr or GT intake manifolds will be required to adapt them to an older bike.

Because the 3rd Picture in the first post shows a lever with the word "choke" on it, and I have never seen that on a set of CV30 or CV32 Carbs, it would be interesting to find out what they came off. I have seen bowl heater holes like also pictured. Getting the numbers off those needles, might help with the model search. We a like this stuff.

Good Morning.

Have added in attach a few more pictures of the carbs. Unfortunately the majority of the bolts on these carbs have damaged heads and as I'm returning them, was not able to open to check.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards

Thanks for trying.

Here is an old not-so-clear picture of the difference between the CV32 on the left, and CV30 on the right. The CV32 ID is larger than the CV30, but the OD of them are the same.

Here is that picture showing a few sets of CV32 Carbs and the set in the middle has these heating element holes.

Thank you.

So these should be CV30. Does that number on the side of the carb mean anything (4th picture that i've sent - V687...)?
