So I've got a 79 KZ750 Twin that I recently picked up. First thing I did was get new battery and it started up but ran rough. Next I pulled carbs, disassembled and cleaned then installed all new jets and gaskets. Got new plugs too... now, wont start but wants to. Have compression in both cylinders. Acid washed tank so no rust at all and new fuel lines and filters. Looks like only the right side is getting has not the left. Lines are clear but no gas in left bowl at all....stumped. thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!! Also, new diaphragms .

Assuming you verifird no gas in bowl by opening drain screw then

Float replaced upside down ?
Float height waaaaaaay out of whack? (Search here for "clear tube method")
Float needle valve sticking?

Remove carbs remove float bowl and blow in the fuel line and see what happens to float and valve.

If the tang on the float is bent too much it won't float properly. The float valve will remain closed and you will not get fuel. To check this take the bowl off and remove the float and valve. Open your gas line and see if you get gas. If not, that's your most likely problem.

Yes, I did drain both bowls...only got fuel from the right side. Both floats are set to same height though but I will check again tomorrow to see if one went wonky. petcock is clear and fuel line is clear too. just weird! whole carb has brand new jets and was cleaned and blown out before reassembly...even cleaned inside of tank back to bare metal also. But, never done carbs before either so there is hat factor too......lol

Well.... got floats adjusted properly and no leaks but still wont start. Cranks, sputters, backfires into carbs and occasionally blows a flame out of pipes or just smokes a little from them but still wont start up. Carb is backed out at 1.5 turns and have tried increasing mixture all the way to 2.75 in half turn increments and still nothing. I am running pods but not opposed to fitting a stock airbox back onto carbs if it would help. Plugs are brand new and spaces are correct. When I pull plugs they are covered in oil though. Any ideas ??? NEVER DONE MOTOR WORK AND WOULD HATE TO START NOW...LOL
