FCR carbs on a 1977 Kawasaki KZ650 and VELOCITY STACKS!
18 Oct 2018 17:54
Would this be overkill? Im planning on taking out the old carbs and airbox and throwing on the FCR carbs. They are pricey but damn they look good with velocity stacks!!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationWhatever you do don't damage the airbox. You should be able to easily sell it to someone with a KZ650 who regrets removing theirs. Ed
Here's one that sold:

On a stock 650 motor with a pipe I think you'd be better off with a nice set of VM26's or maybe some VM28's.
As for the FCR's I think the smallest is a FCR34 and would be way over kill.
RS38's with stack's on my ZRX1200.

With all due respect.. For someone that is not sure WHY your bike won't run, then looking to install RACING carbs that are not matched you your engine makes no sense whatsoever. And then when you figure in the massive amounts of money to adapt these WRONG carbs, makes even less sense. Have you priced a jet kit recently?

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but as Ed pointed out, the air cleaner actually does serve a purpose by filtering out contaminants to keep your engine from self destruction.

20 Oct 2018 10:47 - 20 Oct 2018 10:51Awww shucks dave! It has to be that new and improved "racing" blue glue, or is that blue RTV sillycone? You know, the stuff that gasoline eats. lol
At any rate, that would be why these carbs are sitting on a shelf, rather than tearing up the highway somewhere. The motor blew up from all of the dirt it sucked in.

Those carbs with the blue on them did come off a road race bike.
Bought the carbs used for a good price.
Should be VM24SS I believe, don't know as they came with a bunch of parts I bought.
Think the blue is to prevent the drain screws from coming loose, I don't know.

Just in case, here's a pic of VM22SS carbs. VM24SS carbs do not have the orifice at the 10:00 position that the VM22SS carbs have. Ed

Is there any possibility that you’d be willing to sell that airbox? I’m in desperate need of one for my 1978 kz650.
