Shouldn't have to use anything. Bolts too long?

You didn't mention where the leaks were at. In the boots or at the mating surface with the head. There should be no leaks with new boots if installed correctly.

RTV doesn't work real well for plugging leaky boots. I found it was better to just replace the boots but in your case you already did. when I replaced my boots some years back I can't remember if I used fuel proof gasket sealer or not on the mating surfaces.

Hope you find the problem. Tim

I use a smear of V-tech rtv ( the 600 degree stuff ) on both the intake flange and the face of the boot and leave overnight to cure once nipped up.
Peel away any excess from inside and outside the next day and you should be good to go.

Ended up using a very small amount of high temp silicone rtv worked just fine although I should not have had to use anything
