GPZ1100 converted to Mikuni RS34 FS jetting
21 Sep 2017 07:41
Just wondering what other people are using with a similar setup? Currently the jets that came with the carbs were for a gsxr750 so they are on the small size. I've got the biggest mains in and it still needs more at a 125 and 5500'. Local shop is out of jets so I had to order larger ones online, still waiting on them, 127.5, 130, 135. When I open up quickly it just stumbles and or dies, but if I back it off it comes alive....classic low velocity lean out. Plugs are too light as well.
Also on a rant: just found out my shit ass company used to be HP(E) (which was bought out by the suck ass company CSC) is going to offshore my position to India. Company is now DXC...if you have any decision making responsibility, make sure to NOT use that crap ass company. Sorry, but I've seen too may of my friends loose their jobs this way...and the quality of work from offshore is pathetic.

Have you adjusted the accelerator pump to start right off idle?

First like the manual said to do, then I read on the suduco sight to turn off the pumps until the jetting was sorted.
I just got my new mains today, I'll know more when I get them installed.

I put 135 in's and still a bit lean. this is from the 125. off idle is too lean as well, I'm going to need to get bigger pilots.
I would appreciate if anyones used these (or any other 34mm) on a 1100 what they wound up using. OR what the stock jetting was on the KZ1100/1000R ELR. Just looking for a base point, and trying not to buy jets I don't need.

I put RS34's on my KZ1100A-2 with a set of 84 GPz cams and bathtub head, with stock 82 pistons. The bike has a V&H header and Dynatek 2000 ignition installed and set to 40 degrees BTDC at 4K rpms.
As it sits right now, 125 main jets and 20 pilots. The needle clips are in the center slot, and .7 pilot air jets are installed, which I may change to .8 to lean the pilot up a little. I may also drop the needles one slot, since it ran well that way all summer with 17.5 pilots.
The air intake consists of a widened stock air box with 70mm length velocity stacks, and a Ramair filter element stretched over the snorkel opening...and it's running surprisingly well.
So it is.

Thank you for responding sir, from your set up I'm guessing my jetting is fat on the mains and too lean on the jets.

Per your configuration above, I switched to .5 down on mains and installed 20.0 idle and .65 turn on idle bleed and run's like a raped ape.
Thank you for the info, worked perfect.

Hi, no manual said 1/4 movement, what would this do right off idle?

I'll chime in here with my rs34 settings, on an mkII motor, 1075 10.25/1 pistons, mild port and polish, mild cams, pod filters, free flowing exhaust. I had the bike on a Dyna with a sniffer so I'm pretty sure it's pretty spot on with the AFR. Settings were; 22.5 pilot, 132.5 main, needle clip second from bottom, mixture screws 3/4 turns out, and floats at 19mm. Pump at factory setting.

Hi, what did you get power and torque wise?
What elevation are you at?
Thanks

300ft elevation, 100hp/63ftlbs, but it was an uncalibrated dyno, so who knows on those numbers. I was more interested in the A/F ratio. IMHO its worth it to go to do some runs on a dyno. the shop i found charged me $70 a run, and it took three runs to get it dialed in. I thought the jetting was good before but now its perfect.
