1977 KZ1000 A1 Throttle Stop Screw
19 Aug 2017 18:56 - 23 Aug 2017 14:58
Hello all so this is the first time I have posted on anything since getting my bike. I traded $400 worth of musical instruments for it about 5 years ago then turned around and sold it after getting it running to pay for my wedding. Well as things turn out I just got it back this year for free because the person I sold it to sold it to someone else who stopped making payments and robbed parts off the bike....
Now that the history of the bike is kinda out there, I am having an issue with my idle. Well after looking at many different pictures and reading many different things I have come to find out that the Throttle Stop Screw is missing. I am talking the whole complete assembly, bracket, spring, and the throttle stop screw itself. I am having a hard time finding this part anyone have any ideas? or have one for sale?
Oh and this is the third time I have resurrected this bike, all three times the bike was not running when I worked on it. I am not a motorcycle mechanic and technically this is the first one I have ever worked on. So laymen terms and part numbers would be helpful please. Thank you in Advance!

Hopefully somebody around here will have those parts gathering dust in a box of old parts. If not, you may be able to find them at a motorcycle salvage yard. Kawasaki.com and Partzilla have good parts diagrams with part numbers.

I sure hope someone has those parts laying around. I don't have a motorcycle salvage yard near me and I can only find the spring and the stop screw. I can't find the bracket.

Anyone know which set of carbs I have? Also was wondering if anyone knows the part numbers for the throttle stop screw, spring, and assembly?

so the part numbers are 16077-013 HOLDER,THROTTLE SCREW, 16021-028 SCREW,THROTTLE STOP, 16022-017 SPRING,THROTTLE STOP
Looks like I can get the spring, and screw off ebay, but I can't find the holder anywhere.

Looks like you need reference number 23. Note that it uses a different screw than the earlier models.

Ooooops, looks like we have been posting simultaneously.
Kawasaki produced quite a few KZ1000s during those years, so there are bound to be some stockpiles of broken carb sets with just the piece you need. The trick will be finding them. I wonder how hard it would be to fabricate a replacement?

not sure how hard it would be to fabricate one, but for me it would be impossible because I am not a metal worker at all
