Yes - I measured 45 mm (I'm a Canuck!) which is about 1.749 in you measured - now to find one!

Good to know - I'm looking for a manual one ideally...my float needle seats are sticking even after cleaning them thoroughly (this bike has been sitting many years - I just picked it up) even finding carb rebuild kits is proving tricky...just sorting out what I can find to work with...after cleaning stock carbs fuel is still puking out - as I can't turn the leaky vacuum petcock off - it flows in every position...

I finally got around to stripping my tap off again for another clean up. I looked at finding a non vacuum replacement but my local shop suggested that it might be cheaper to just fit a regular on/off tap further down the line. A good idea,in theory, but I dont have enough room twixt tank and engine to get my fingers on it. Maybe it could work on the 650. Certainly cheaper and less work than other options.
On a side note,the link I posted earlier about the tap rebuild tutorial has now been photofucketed !
