Rebuilt carbs won't Idle
21 May 2017 14:51
Hi all.
I restored my VM24 carbs and they wouldn't idle. The bike wouldn't start unless I helped the engine out with some starter fluid. The revs would slowly drop unless the choke was on and it was revving a bit more than 2k. Also if I gave it any gas it would die. Usually this means a clogged air screw but I cleaned the carbs so there's no blockages. I think it's not getting fuel so I checked petcock and it works. I also did a float bowl fuel test to see the level in the bowls and that's within spec. Any advice here would help.
I also attached a picture of the air screw that I took off today and it wouldn't seat properly. There's another air screw to the left of the picture for comparison. Anybody knows what causes this and how to fix it?
Thanks for the help guys. I'm close to getting it synced and riding around but I can't do any of that unless it idles consistently.

Pilot jets clogged and use a better screw driver even if you have adapt one.
