KZ750E float bowl overflow bronze tube repair was created by RupertBear25
Hi all,

I have a slight fuel leak from the drain on at the bottom of carb #1.

Taking advice from previous posts, I took off the float bowl, I filled it with water, fixed a plastic tube to the drain nozzle, and blew through it. It feels like playing some bizarre musical instrument. But it does show that bubbles come up from the point where the bronze overflow/vent tube meets the aluminum bowl (and not through the drain screw).

So that is where the leak is. Question - what is the best way to fix it? I don't think the tube can be pulled out without breaking it. I was going to gloop superglue around the joint, as it's liquid enought to flow down the gap somewhat. But can superglue be immersed in fuel? Or solder it up with electrical solder?
Any ideas appreciated!

(Yes I see the split in the O-ring gasket too!)

You can use some drops of tank sealer like POR15 or KREEM, definitive 100% fuel resistant.

Another option might be red (permanent) Loctite. If it was mine I would contact the Loctite folks and ask them which of their sealant/threadlocker products is gasoline proof. Ed

Like you said I'm pretty sure I've read a few have soldered them before....... try to search for it.

its a common issue. here is a thread where i repaired mine by replacing the tube completely.

Rosen core solder will work perfectly. Available at your plumbing supply sources. I did the tube on one of my 750 carbs and it's been good since. Coat the tube with flux and then hit it with a weak torch flame followed by the solder.

the position of your leak should make it an easy fix. JB Weld (if available in UK auto parts stores) will also work if you let it cure for 24 hours but solder like Nessissm described is much neater.
DoctoRot's fix is amazing but I know I dont have that level of skill.

I did fix a long hairline crack in the brass tube once by using a slightly wider piece of brass tubing from a hobby shop which I slipped over the existing overflow tube and soldered around the bottom
Good luck

Thanks JR and Nessism, I'm sure plumbing-type soldering is the answer - with electrical solder I couldn't get enough heat into the float bowl, and it wouldn't flux along the tube either.
