kZ900 Carb Size

Hey All... Ok I bought a 1976 KZ900 last spring. Pulled the carbs and they seem to measure 28 rather than 26 on the manifold side. Can anyone tell me if the 1976 ever came with the VM28's? Am I measuring correctly?

I don't know the answer to your question but I can say that the 26's measure a little oversize if you use calipers inside the outlets.

I also don't know what you have, but if you do have VM28's on your motorcycle, then the carbs have been switched...All KZ900's (A4, A5, B1) came from the factory with VM26SS carbs.

Like everybody has said before, your bike came with 26mm carbs.

When I bought mine, the PO had switched the carbs to 28mm I have the late model off of a 1975 z1
1977 KZ900
Carbs are late model 1975 28mm

The 28's are good carbs but the 26's stay in sync better. Not too much power loss.
