81 440 a ltd carb confusion was created by Hyde_me
I have a recent purchase of a 440 ltd that I am looking to use a a weekend escape pod from the family. Trouble is I can't get the carbs to any usable setting. I have pulled and cleaned the carbs twice with a 24 hour soak in carb cleaner and it seems to have not helped at all.

I can start the engine, the idle is set to about 1500 or so.
I turn the throttle lightly and the engine goes straight to 6000 and stays until I turn the bike off.
I have checked almost everything the maintenance guide.
Replaced both float valves as 1 would stick in
Replaced the rubber o rings on the pilot screws as one had ripped
Checked for leaks at idle around the carb boots
Still using factory air box

Please you have to help! If I have to spend anymore time with these people......

This one has electronic ignition so is there any way to check the spark advance?

The spark advance is behind the points cover. Clean and lube it to be sure it isn't sticking.

My timing looks like this. I have lubed this area with a light 3n1 oil

Looks great. Do a tune up. Valve adjustment timing etc before going to the carbs. CV carbs can have issues but these things must be done first.
Pics of the plugs?

Did the valve timing (with the engine cold) and double checked
pressure check
new set of plugs
checked gap
checked spark with a inline tester
