I recently got some good help on the forum here setting float levels, so i thought I would ask about my next obstacle. 1975 Z1 900, bone stock, getting a 2000-3000 rpm light load miss or bucking. Heavy throttle seems fine, the problem is just cruising.

Pulled the plugs today and found #1 to be lean. The rest of the plugs are sooty black. Coil resistance is good at 4.1 Ohms for each coil. Voltage is low at 10V, which could be part of the sooting problem. I suspect the #1 carb is clogged somewhere, which is why i'm running lean. The bike was sitting for a long time before i got it. I went through the carbs and cleaned them the best i could. I did the pine-sol soak, and sprayed everything out with carb cleaner. I dont think i'm getting any air leaks around the carb, the air box is in good condition and i replaced the boots to the engine. All the needle positions are set in the middle.



Wondering if i can target an area of the carb to look for a blockage, or should i send them out for ultrasonic cleaning. Any advice is appreciated.

Use a fine guitar string on the pilots. Adjusted the valves?

Po's are notorious for that. You need to rule that out first then move on. The valves on these are easy compared to the smaller fours.
