Air Filter Help was created by TakeItKZ750LTD
What's up!
I need to change my air filter on my bike and having trouble finding a how-to video on the internet. I'm rather green, so I feel more comfortable watching a video than reading a how-to at this moment. But if you want to send me a text how-to I try and give it a shot.
I have a 1980 KZ750 LTD.
Thanks!

I'm sorry that there does not appear to be a video showing how to do this maintenance task (I can't imagine why). It’s pretty complex, but I have faith you can do it by following the instructions below.
Step 1 - Open the seat. This is done by inserting the key into the seat lock keyhole and simultaneously turning the key while lifting the seat.
Step 2 - Locate the air filter cap (see part labeled #2 in the diagram below); turn it counter-clockwise; and lift it out of the air box. Do not discard it as you will need it in a later step.
Step 3 - Grasp the old air filter element (see part labeled #3 in the diagram below), and lift it out of the air box. The old air filter element can be discarded.
Step 4 - Remove the new air filter element from its packaging material.
Step 5 - Insert the new air filter element into the air box and ensure it is properly seated. It goes into the space made empty when you removed the old air filter element.
Step 6 - Install the air filter cap onto the top of the air box and secure it by turning it clockwise.
Step 7 – Remove the key from the seat lock keyhole.
Step 8 – Close the seat before attempting to ride the bike.
Good luck with this endeavor. Ed

Even the most mundane things can be problematic. If the bike is a 750-4, you may have to remove the fuel tank bolt & lift the rear of the tank to unscrew the air filter cap. I try to raise the tank as little as possible so as not to disturb the middle & rear dampers. Otherwise you may have to remove the tank to reposition them. that's no big deal, but kind of a pain.
Air filter cap. The manual says to screw the cap back on until you feel a click. but it may not click & if you over-tighten the cap, it can break as the plastic is old.
OM. the owner's manual has basic instructions for doing some of the routine maintenance on the bike. It may be kinda hidden on the bike, often times located in a pull-down document case on the underside of the seat. some new KZ owners don't realize it's there.
