1979 KZ750 twin Carb replacement was created by AjKZBobber
My carbs have been a constant problem. I was wondering if there was anywhere online that sells replacements or if the carbs from an xs650 would be a suitable replacement since they both use Mikuni bs38, or if there was another carb type that would be suitable to swap onto the bike.

Thanks,
Aaron

Stock pipes and pods. Can't fit an air box because of modified frame.

i had two into one headers and pods on my KZ750B twin.
After two weekends of carbs on and off, I found the time to put the air box and single filter back on.
Ran great with the Kerker pipe and stock air box.

A set of mechanical slide carbs, like Mikuni VM series, might be just the ticket since they are less sensitive to the lack of an air box. I don't think the 750 ever used them, so the trick will be to find a pair with similar spacing from a large twin. I think the Mikuni catalogue shws spacing, but I don't know if any twins are listed.

I was able to get my twin running right with pods but it is an 82 and uses the bs34 carbs. Some pointers tho: throw away the cone shaped filters and get a set of uni pods. The black and chrome cones are shit. They restrict flow to the air jets and the diaphragm inlet.

Replace the stock needles and needle jets with richer ones. Mikesxs sells them.

I went from 115 to 125 mains, 37.5 to 50 pilots. One turn on the screws. These are for 34mm carbs but it gives you an idea. Bike pulls good to redline, cruises nice, idles perfectly, doesn't stumble off idle, even at full throttle, doesn't bog and buck at full throttle in low rpm.

So, after tinkering with it for a little bit today, I was about to get it running pretty well. I rode it for about a half hour around the neighborhood without any issues, but I have yet to take it out on the highway/interstate because I haven't registered it this year since I didn't think I was going to be able to ride it.

I will look into the uni filters to see if there are any improvements.

I am trying to sell it right now because, even if it runs well, I have some back problems the make it hard to ride for any considerable about of time on the hard tail.

Never saw the point of hard tailing a bike. About the dumbest mod out there IMO.

It's thought to be cool. I like these bikes because they handle so well and have good power. When I had my 350 Honda, I liked the styling of the Kaws more.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationYou could try these guys Aaron: I talked to them once about possibly using them for my twin with pods. Theres some dinking around to do getting adapter boots and throttle cables and synching the carbs as they are not ganged together but the guy I talked to said it was all doable. I haven't come close to giving up on pods with stock carbs yet as my new jets have not yet arrived from JetsRUs but I keep this outfit on my watch list.
