Maybe one hole would suffice, and see how that goes...
I'd prefer to loosen the drain plugs a couple turns, and leave them partly threaded in while most of the gas runs out. A couple more turns and the cap comes off with little ethanol fuel left to get on my hands.

In order to change jets or check the float level they have to come off anyway. At $25 a pop, I wouldn't mung them up. What about installing a T in the fuel lines connecting the bottom of the carbs together instead?

I see you are following my logic, though you think it is a dumb idea. :lol: I've had lots and lots of dummer ones, but a few pretty good ones too. :cheer:
If those fuel lines opened directly inside bottom of the bowls, then your brilliant concept would work. Then they could also be tapped into for checking the fuel levels with the clear tube.
But I'm pretty sure those lines hold fuel for the accelerator pump, which enters that system through an opening about a half inch above the bottom inside the one bowl with the pump cylinder, so it might only let the fuel above that drain out.
I ain't fraid to bugger up a plug, but I'll gore the one that was buggered before it was mine.

Is the Fuel Level Gauge Tool for smoothbores the same size? Likely not according to the info provided by Z1E, but if so, could use instead of the stock items, and use a cap/plug or other means to close off flow from the nipple.

Might otherwise be feasible to customize the existing drain screws by adding an outflow nipple.

Is there sufficient room in the existing plug to tap threads for a "standard" small drain screw that has the slow discharge hole?
Possibly such as this:

Or this;
Click here > $6.49 each

Perhaps fashioning a trough to catch and collect both the removed plugs and discharging gasoline, and routing the flow into a suitable container, could be an acceptable alternative. Or as previously mentioned by simply using a disposable towel or shop rag to catch and soak up the discharged gasoline.

Nope. :(
...but I should be able to get that same benefit with the simple twist of a small drill bit. :unsure:
