My bike has only one, but I suspect it should have 2.

It's for precise control of the throttle. When I'm banging through the gears up and down, I don't want my shifting to be hung up by a slow spring. I didn't use one for years, I am now. B)

Kawasaki lists them as open/close, for opening or closing the throttle slides. a closing cable can serve as a spare in case the opening cable breaks.

I've never used a closer cable, although you can't go wrong using one and they do make a handy spare for roadside throttle cable breakage.

Nowadays, control cables snapping doesn't really happen as they all get replaced at the first sign of fraying.

Once i rode a bike home 20 miles with the tickover turned right up and the kill switch to slow down, it was mainly quiet country roads though.
