Mine has the lower silencer part but the elbow snorkle or whatever you call it is gone.
I think i read some where to remove the lower part and even the screens to improve performance.
I know i know ..if it aint broke dont fix it ..
But i have to know lol. will it get more air ..will it sound different
i have no problem re jetting if is does get more air.

Ed you know not of what you speak. The Kz1000st has the air filter in the first section behind carbs.650ed wrote: So what do you plan to do about filtering the air? Sucking in air that has fine road grit, etc. in it is going to kill, not improve, performance because it will quickly grind up the cylinder walls / piston rings which in turn will ruin your compression. Removing the curved snorkel will have little effect on performance or jetting. I ran just the first section with
a replacement K&N filter until I sold the bike this last fall. Now the hole there is bigger and does require
some carb tuning.

This is probably true; it wouldn't be the first time. However, he stated "I think i read some where to remove the lower part and even the screens to improve performance" If he does that what would filter the air? Ed
