Larger pilot jets for kz750e?
05 Jan 2016 08:02
Hi guys, dealer told me that only Kawasaki makes my pilot jet and it's unavailable. eBay yields few results, each priced at $20. Does anyone make these and sell separate from a kit?
Thanks,
Mike

Z1 Enterprises sells jets for those bikes. They are having issues with their website lately though so you may have to call them. Typically you don't need to mess with the pilot jets, even when installing pods. Dynojet provides new main jets and needles in their Stage 1&3 kits for those bikes, not pilot jets.

I will look into that, thank you. Right now I have pods and Kerker 4-1. Pilots were 5 turns out and bike popped a lot at idle and some on decel. I'm not sure how many more turns out I can go! I think I'm going to check the passages and drop the jets into some cleaner before spending money on them.

JetRUs sells #38 pilots.

Just my opinion but any more than 4 turns out and you need bigger jets.
Don't fix it until it's broken.

3.5 turns is the usual rule-of-thumb before you go up in pilots. But like the others say make sure there are no restrictions anywhere first.
Oh, and your dealer is an idiot. Stay away.

I have an extra set of 4 Keihin CV34 #35 slow pilot jets that I am planning to drill to #40. I will post results when I get there.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. I ended up cleaning the passages really well, there was a little bit of junk in two of them. I've read that even with pods the screws should only be two turns out. That doesn't seem like enough. I agree that anything more than 3.5-4 out needs next size up. I'm going to set them at 3 and start there. I won't be able to test for a while as the gas tank is currently being prepped for paint. I appreciate the help!

Whip up a temp fuel tank (good for carb syncing as well, a length of pvc pipe with a screw on cap on one side and a cap with a drilled hole and a pressed in hose works, zip tie to the backbone and go for a quick test ride.
I've also used a pop bottle for carb sync, but you wouldn't have quite the range with that.
